Scientists drank a 170-year-old wine Veuve Clicquot
The experts held a champagne tasting 170 year old and evaluated its characteristics. Sparkling wine Veuve Clicquot revealed divers after the wreck at a depth of 50 meters.

The experts were able to taste a unique wine 170-year old. A bottle of champagne divers found in 2010 during the crash in the Baltic sea. As noted by the tasters, sparkling wine, lying at a depth of 50 meters, was in excellent condition due to cold water temperatures and lack of sunlight, reports Science News.

Having assessed the bottle cap, the researchers indicated that champagne belongs to the famous French brand of "Veuve Clicquot". Clogged it was most likely in the period between 1830 and 1840.

Experts appreciated the aroma of the wine as spicy, smoky and leathery. Furthermore, they reported that the ancient champagne significantly less strong than modern wine. "The widow of Kluko" of the nineteenth century contains only 9% alcohol, not the usual for the modern man 12%. Apparently, this is due to less efficient fermentation processes in vintage manufacture of intoxicating beverages.

The experts also found the impurity of the wood in champagne, which declares that kept it in a barrel. Also, they reported that the vintage wine has a sweeter taste than its modern counterparts.Apparently, earlier in the grapes added sugar.

However while lying in the sea, have lost their own champagne sparkling structure, because most of the carbon dioxide was blown through the tube. In addition tasters noted the absence in intoxicating drinks microorganism that expresses excellent hygiene in the production of this product. Found discovery will help scientists better find out about the wine-growing technologies of the nineteenth century.
