Kerry: the main topic of the NATO meeting in Turkey will be relations with Russia
One of the main issues on the agenda at the meeting of the foreign Ministers of NATO countries in Turkey will be the rate with respect to Russia, said U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry at a meeting with the Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who is visiting the U.S. capital.
The chief of U.S. diplomacy confirmed that wishes to participate in the meeting in Antalya, which, as first announced NATO, will be held on 13-14 may, BelTA news Agency.
"I'm waiting for my visit in the coming month to Turkey at the Ministerial meeting in Antalya," said Kerry. According to him, this meeting will discuss the priorities of NATO." In this case, Kerry once again spoke negatively about Russia's policy on Ukraine." One of those priorities (NATO) is Russian aggression against Ukraine, " he said. In addition, he added, in Antalya will be considered further ways to respond to the threat that extremists pose to the South of NATO." For its part Cavusoglu expressed the view that the current stage of international relations is " critically important to our region, the middle East and Ukraine, and similarly in the Black sea area ". Because of this, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey claimed that there is " the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and Crimea ". The Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, speaking at the IV Conference on international security in the Russian capital, said that member States of NATO want to capture the geopolitical space, increase military capabilities in Eastern Europe, closer to Russia's borders. Prior to this, Deputy defense Minister of Russia Anatoly Antonov said that in connection with the crisis in Ukraine all the positive in relations with the Alliance collapsed, NATO has taken the course of confrontation. In January, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the assurances of the North Atlantic Commonwealth about non-expansion to the East have remained empty words, and at the same time the infrastructure of NATO has moved closer to Russia's borders. The Minister also said that NATO's transition to confrontational rhetoric and increase of its military presence close to Russian borders demonstrate the inability of the Commonwealth to cross the stereotypes of the cold war. Remember, in early January, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance has strengthened its presence in the East: the Alliance sends to the site in Eastern Europe more ships, planes and troops. In November past year, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Jens Stoltenberg has described relations between Russia and NATO is not constructive, however, assured that the Russian Federation and NATO are not in a state of cold war.
