Kursk rescuers continue to closely monitor the radiation situation in the region after the great fire in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the situation remains stable, informs on Thursday the regional Glaucus.
The fire broke out in the Chernobyl exclusion area on 28 April in an area of about 400 hectares. To destroy it attracted more than 300 people and 51 of the vehicles, as well as among them airplanes and helicopters. Ukrainian authorities claimed that the situation was under control, and rescuers said that the Fire did not threaten the Shelter, erected above the emergency power unit of Chernobyl.
