Over 1,500 military personnel started Friday a series of anti-terrorism exercises in the North Caucasus military district, Russia`s Defense Ministry said.
The two-stage Caucasus Frontier-2007 exercises aim to inspect the readiness of the command and troops to conduct anti-terrorism operations, and to practice interoperability between Ground Forces and Air Force units in joint operations.
The maneuvers will include battalion- and company-level exercises with live-ammunition firing.
The anti-terrorism exercises involve units of the North Caucasus military district, the 58th Army, the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army and a number of special forces units.
