The head of Latvia considers correct the decision of the EU on sanctions against Russia
The head of Latvia Raymond Vejonis believes the right decision of the EU on the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
"We must fight for common values of the EU, for this reason I think that the conclusion on the introduction of penalties was right," he told reporters on Tuesday the head of Latvia during the visit in Madona district of the Republic.
Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated in connection with the situation in Ukraine. At the end of July 2014, the EU and the US from point penalties against private individuals and organizations have moved to the measures against entire sectors of Russia's economy. In response, Russia restricted imports of food items from countries that have entered against her punishment. In June 2015, in response to the extension of the sanctions Russia has extended food embargo for one year, until August 5, 2016.
Western countries since March 2014 several times already imposed penalties because Russia's position on Ukraine. In July, the U.S. has expanded its own List.
