The OSCE opened in Kiev mission to monitor local elections
The OSCE office for democratic institutions and human rights (OSCE / ODIHR) on Wednesday officially opened in Kiev its mission to monitor local elections in Ukraine to be held on 25 October, said the head of the mission, Tana de Zulueta.
in her expressions, the mission placed upon the invitation of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, are still part of 16 specialists in Kiev.
"in the upcoming week we will be joined by long-term observers who will go to all regions of Ukraine. We made a request to member States to provide us with 100 long-term observers, " said the messenger mission at a press conference on Wednesday.
She also added that the observers of the OSCE / ODIHR will observe the entire electoral process. For example, experts of the mission will be to ensure the execution of the electoral law, how does the registration of candidates, as well as how the country adhere to the payment policies of the campaign.
"on election day, We will monitor the voting process and the vote count. In this we will help our short-term observers, " - said the head of mission. It is planned that on election day, the voting process will follow 600 short-term observers.
The mission also plans to prepare a report on the monitoring of local elections. One will be published before polling day and on the next day after him.
