Eight killed as van smashes into parked truck in Peru
At least eight people died on Monday as a van collided with a truck in the southeast of Peru, a local radio station reported on Tuesday.
"The accident occurred on the 27th kilometer of the highway between the cities of Calapuja and Azangaro in the Puno Region. In poor visibility conditions, a Volkswagen van carrying passengers, travelling at a high speed, smashed into a coffee truck parked on the roadside," RPP said.
"Eight people died, four were injured and hospitalized in a serious condition," it said.
The poor condition of roads and vehicles is the main reason for road accidents in Peru.
