The fossilized remains of a new species of a winged dinosaur was discovered in the southern part of China the builders who almost destroyed it with dynamite.
The petrified corpse was discovered on a construction site in Ganzhou city, when the workers blasted away the enclosing rock.
A dinosaur named Tongtianlong limosus was winged, the ancient ancestor of modern birds. The dinosaur lived during the Cretaceous period, and that means that he was from 66 to 72 million years. The discovery was published in the journal Nature.
The report States that the dinosaur died in a trap. His beak and head was in the dirt, wings splayed, where he remained in this position until his remains are not subjected to the blast wave. Tongtianlong limosus translates as "Dragon on the way to heaven," a name that refers to the position in which the dinosaur died. "Judging by the sound, the sample was probably initially full or almost full. However, some parts of the skeleton do not exist ... This is because the sample was assembled by workers on an active construction site," the report said.
