12 people were killed in a night attack on a University in the Afghan capital, Basir Mujahid, said the press-Secretary of police chief of Kabul.
Two militants, who were still on the ground were killed after police entered the building a few hours after the shooting started. The third attacker was killed when he detonated a car loaded Wednesday night in front of the University wall, said the police chief.
"It was a powerful explosion," said Ahmad, a 28-year-old teacher of political science. "Windows of our class just shattered." Ahmad and his classmates are trapped in the corridor outside the classroom, before the guard led them to the emergency exit. There, in a panic, the students stumbled, fell and ran.
And still the nightmare was not over. "We heard the shots," he recalls. He said, still in shock from terrible events. "It was so close we thought they were behind us." Ahmad said he saw one wounded woman and her face covered in blood.
12 people were killed, among them 7 students, 3 police and 2 security guards. 30 students were injured in the attack. No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Approximately 750 students were in the campus at that time, said a police spokesman. Two professors, American and Australian, were abducted from the same University earlier this month. Their whereabouts are still unknown. Ahmad said that after the abduction, the students were informed about how to respond to a potential attack.
The first explosion occurred at 7:50 p.m. local time, when students got together for Breakfast.
