The Parliament of South Korea voted to impeach President
Legislators in the National Assembly of South Korea voted to impeach President Park Geun-Hye. During the vote of 234 votes were for, against - 56.

The country's constitutional court will now consider the process which can take up to 180 days. However, it remains unclear whether to leave Pak to resign after the vote, or it will wait for the court's decision. Prime Minister Hwang Kyo Ahn will be acting President at the time of the court's deliberations. According to the Constitution of South Korea, for impeachment requires a two-thirds vote of the legislature.

The President has faced mass protests and a low rating since it turned out that her confidant and Advisor Choi sun-SIL, had access to secret government documents. Choi is accused of using his official position to amass millions of dollars in donations and was arrested on charges of abuse of power, fraud and coercion. Two of the former aides of the Pack is also facing criminal charges.

Now that the Parliament voted for impeachment, the reins will be handed to the Prime Minister to hwan. On the eve of voting on Friday, Hwang met with members of the government to ensure a smooth transition of power. 9 the members of the Court need to find the two-thirds vote for impeachment.
In this case, new elections will be held within 60 days.

Prosecutors said they want to talk with Park after she became a suspect in corruption with the participation of its Trustee Choi and other helpers. As President Park currently has immunity from prosecution. Although her lawyers said she is ready to cooperate with the investigation, last month she claimed to be too busy to meet with prosecutors.
