The American state of Arkansas executed an inmate for the fourth week. 38-year-old Kenneth Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a University cheerleader in 1998. He was later convicted of killing 19-year-old cheerleader after he escaped from prison.
He died by lethal injection at 11:05 local time, the last of the 8 prisoners who had originally planned to execute this month. Governor Asa Hutchinson on Thursday evening temporarily stopped the execution of Williams, allowing the Supreme court of the United States to consider the application for extension of period of performance. The court denied the motions. Williams was convicted of the murder of a University cheerleader in 1998.
In 1999, he escaped from prison, Cummins and killed 19-year-old girl at her home. He was arrested after he caused a traffic accident, which killed the driver Michael Greenwood of Missouri.
Delivery Arkansas sedatives used in lethal injections, will expire at the end of the month. The state faces shortage of lethal injection drugs because it is fighting with vendors that don't want their products used in executions.
Of the 8 prisoners who were to die, the courts issued a death sentence 4 of them. Ledell Lee, Jack Jones, Marcel Williams and Kenneth Williams were executed on Monday and Thursday, respectively. Jones and Marcel Williams was executed Monday for a murder committed in 1990-ies, and Li was executed on 20 April. Lee was convicted in 1995 for killing a woman in her home two years earlier.
It is unclear whether or not the Arkansas fresh supplies of midazolam after the expiry of his current batch.
