Russia wants the US to return diplomatic property in the country, which were selected at the end of last year.
Diplomatic property in the state of new York and Maryland were selected as the President Barack Obama closed them in December in the framework of the sanctions imposed against the Russian government for his alleged interference in the presidential election of 2016.
"We have repeatedly stated that we believe that any conditions unacceptable. We believe that diplomatic property must be returned without any terms and negotiations," said Monday the representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov. "What happens, de facto and de jure violation of international law," he said. "Contacts are taking place between the foreign ministries. This issue was raised by President Vladimir Putin during his meeting "the Big twenty" President trump in a very literal way."
Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov on Monday in Washington met with U.S. Undersecretary of state for political Affairs Thomas Shannon to discuss this issue. Press Secretary of the foreign Ministry of Russia Maria Zakharova last month warned that the Kremlin could retaliate if the property will not be returned.
