The Ambassador of Qatar in the United States called for an end to the continuing "blockade" of their country by the coalition of Arab States, at the same time, defiantly declaring that they can live under the embargo indefinitely.
"In our economy there is no damage. The Qatar solidarity in its economy, and we are comfortable with, and we can continue as always", - said the Ambassador Meshal bin Hamad al-Thani. The middle East was immersed in one of the worst diplomatic crises in decades June 5, when four countries - Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates has announced that they will cut ties with Qatar in connection with his alleged support of terrorism.
They provided a list of 13 demands to the government of Qatar, including the closure of a media network "al Jazeera" and reduce diplomatic relations with Iran. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Qatar, said that the list of "rejected".
"The state of Qatar has demonstrated its constructive approach to resolving this crisis, and we have repeatedly requested a meeting to sit and discuss this ... so now boycotting country must decide and come to the table," said Ambassador Meshal bin Hamad al-Thani.
At a briefing for selected media in new York on Wednesday, the Saudi Ambassador to the UN Abdullah bin yahiya al-Moallem stressed the importance of the six principles of resumption of diplomatic relations with Qatar, which were agreed to boycott Nations July 5, in Cairo.
During the briefing, al-Moallem again accused Qatar of financing terrorism and support for extremism in the region, accusations that categorically rejects Qatar. When asked after the briefing about whether the refuse four countries from their 13 demands, al-Moallem said nothing.
Between Qatar and the boycotting countries there continues to be no negotiations, despite the efforts of U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.
