Died American actor and comedian Jerry Lewis

Jerry Lewis, a loving farce comedian, groundbreaking filmmaker and a generous fundraiser for the muscular dystrophy Association, died Sunday after a long illness, said his publicist Candi Cazaux. He was 91.

Lewis first won fame for his crazy Comedy music act with singer Dean Martin. In the mid-1950s years, Lewis went to a single voyage, and the beginning of 60-ies he became the best filmmaker in the movie "The Bellboy", "The Nutty Professor" and "The Patsy". He first used the videotape and monitors closed loop in the film industry, it is now a standard technique, called live support.

In 1956, he helped to raise money for the treatment in children with muscular dystrophy. The collection was so successful that opened the telethon called "Jerry's kids". The telethon has long been known as "The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon", began airing on weekends in 1966, and Lewis was leading up to 2011.

Despite his success, Lewis has often been criticized. Many people suffering from muscular dystrophy, argued that Lewis imagined suffering disease, as worthy of pity, not as equal members of society.

Comedian Jon Lovitz called Lewis "a stunning talent", while the actor of "Star trek" George Takei thanked him for his "laughter and feelings."
