Tillerson sees a possible way to dialogue with North Korea

The Secretary of state Rex Tillerson made clear that the U.S. is open to dialogue with North Korea, the day after the regime in Pyongyang again threatened Washington.

Tillerson was interrupted during a speech for reporters on the administration's strategy in Afghanistan to do surveillance of the Korean people's Democratic Republic. "I think it is worth noting that we had no missile launch or provocative actions by North Korea, sanctioned Pyongyang on August 5," said Tillerson.

"I'm glad to see that the regime in Pyongyang has demonstrated restraint," said Tillerson. "We hope this signal we were looking for that they are ready to deter provocative actions. And maybe in the near future we will see that we will have some dialogue."

Tillerson made the comments the next day, after the United States began annual military exercises with South Korea that annoy North Korea. He also spoke a few hours after the Treasury Department announced new sanctions against the Russian and Chinese firms that conduct business with North Korea that allows it to Fund its ballistic missile and nuclear programs.

Nerves in Asia was on the brink in July after North Korea tested test 2 missiles, ICBMs, which could theoretically reach the U.S. mainland. The launch was met with a unanimous vote in the Security Council to impose sanctions on Pyongyang, which could reduce revenue from exports of $3 billion dollars on a third.

Then the tension started in early August after President Donald trump said that North Korea will face a "fire and rage, like never seen the world" if it continues to threaten the United States. The next day Pyongyang responded to other threats, including a warning that it will be aimed at GUAM. Threats continue.
