Sir David Tang, socialite, commentator and founder of fashion brand Shanghai Tang, has died, the company said in a statement to CNN. He was 63 years old.
Recently, the Tang was in poor condition. In one of his latest topics for the Financial Times, he praised the National health service in the UK. Tang, who lived between the UK and Hong Kong, said that his mother "always said that the UK gives the best education in the world, to which I now add the best medical care in the world."
According to the London Times, Tang recently posted his famous friends invitation to a party where they could say goodbye to him, because the doctors gave him several months. These months have been reduced to a few weeks.
Born in Hong Kong in 1954, tan has established a high quality brand of style Shanghai Tang in the 1990s. Tang was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2008 and received the status of a knight-commander, "in recognition of his charitable work," the newspaper reported.
Being a philanthropist and a businessman, tan was an outspoken writer and lecturer who never avoided controversial issues. In 2016, he delivered a speech at the foreign correspondents club of Hong Kong, in which he praised the city and criticized their political leaders.
