The lawmakers of the Moscow Region parliament intend to boost cooperation with Finland in energy and in particular use the country`s experience in electric power.
"We are now drafting a law on electric power conservation and we would like to look at your experience and take it into consideration," the chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma, Valery Aksakov said.
The statement was made by Aksakov at a meeting with the members of the council of Uusimaa, a region located in the south coast of Finland, who paid an official visit to the Moscow Region.
Aksakov said a plan for cooperation between the Moscow Region and Uusimaa was scheduled to be signed by the sides in autumn. He also said negotiations were underway to set up a Russian-Finnish innovation center.
The idea of establishing the innovation center was first voiced by Finnish lawmakers in 2005.
"I think the goal of establishing such a center is still topical," Aksakov said at the meeting.
The chairman of the Uusimaa Regional Council, Eero Heinaluoma, said: "We need to enrich our cooperation. First, we will discuss studying the issues of energy and environmental protection."
