The Firework hitmaker and British comedian Russell Brand called time on their union in December after only 14 months of marriage and Katy`s former love, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy, says he has been trying to help the singer get over the break-up.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: `There will always be a connection between us, I`ll always be there for her. When you`ve been in a relationship like ours, you will always make time for that person. Katy was there for me through my hard times when things were really bad.
`Life goes on, I have regrets about the way things ended but there are no grudges anymore. I`ll always be there for her, she knows that.
`Do I think she got married to Russell too fast? When you`re feeling it, you`re feeling it. You can`t help how you feel.`
Katy and Travie started dating in 2008 after she appeared in the video for his band`s song Cupid`s Chokehold but split in 2009.
