NALCHIK, November 14 - The militants who carried out an attack on the North Caucasus city of Nalchik in October had planned to hold the city for two months.
"We have testimony of the attacker, the leader of a terrorist group, that extremists planned to hold the city for two months and then leave for woods to carry out their actions." - the local Interior Ministry`s organized crime section said Monday.
According to department deputy head Albert Sizhazhev, the group planned to obtain arms and distribute them to their accomplices waiting in designated places, he said.
The militants also admitted they had intended to attack Nalchik`s airport.
In addition Sizhazhbev informed that the terrorist attack was planned on November,4, however the date was changed because law-machinery bodies detained several extremists.
As a reminder, on October 13, at least 150 militants attacked administrative buildings in the city. According to the Prosecutor General`s Office, 36 law-enforcement officers and 9 civilians were killed.
