TOKYO, November 17 - "Russia intends to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in the second half of 2006", informed the Minister for Economic Development and Trade German Gref.
Minister had meeting with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Toshihiro Nikai. As the Russian minister noted: "According to optimistic prognoses this could happen in the middle of 2006 or before the end of 2006".
The two ministers discussed the bilateral documents related to Russia?s accession to WTO, which are expected to be approved during President Vladimir Putin?s official visit to Japan, scheduled for November 20-22. "We have agreed on all the points and the agreement with Japan on Russia?s accession to WTO will be signed during the Russian leader?s visit to Japan," he stated.
