New explosion at chemical plant in China: 6 thousand people evacuated
At chemical organization in south-west of China an explosion occurred. As a result of incident one worker was killed.
Explosion took place the day before at chemical plant in Chunczin town and could lead to second leak of toxic benzyl within last several weeks. Authorities evacuated about 6 thousands of people from near-by regions, and local people are prohibited to drink water from local reservoirs, because they can be infected by benzene.
As a reminder this is already the second accident in Chinese People`s Republic at chemical factory for last weeks. On November 13 at Czinlin oil-chemical plant of amino benzene and benzyl acetone production explosions occurred, as a result of which fire has started. Fire was stopped only 2 days after the accident.
As a result of incident 70 people were injured. Waters of Sungari were polluted, and in Harbin town water supply was turned off. At present moment flow of poisoned water reached Chinese town Harbin and directs to Amur and Habarovsk.
The length of poisoned as a result on nitrobenzene exhaust part of Sungari is about 80 kilometers, and specialists expect that it will pass during 40 hours. Authorities suppose that water supply will be reconstructed within 4 days.
At present moment schools are closed in town, hospitals are in state of high alert. At the same moment authorities didn`t register cases of poisoning among population yet.
