New method of medicine "address" delivery to certain cells of human organism by magnetic nanoparticles has been developed. This will allow locating and identifying of cancer cells precisely and in perspective - struggle with them.
New nanoparticles allow diagnostics of cancer at early stages and medicine transportation to certain cells. Research with fluorescent magnetic nanoparticles has already been started. Scientists managed to synthesize nanoparticles with width of 28 nm from 146 kinds of various simple molecules. Obtained nanoparticles were tested at 5 various human cells, including pancreatic cancer cells, known as macrophages. As a result particles, which follow directly to cancer cells, were developed. There are also particles, which prefer active macrophages - the ones connected with autoimmune illnesses and atherosclerotic damages of tissues.
Scientists also found out that depending on cover amount of nanoparticles, the cell can accept, was changing from 11 thousands to 5.5 millions of particles per cell. This is an important parameter for determination of correct medicine dose.
"Presence of various nanoparticles allow to choose type, which gives the best result for certain illness", - said chemist and researcher of magnetic nanoparticles Manuel Perez from Central Florida University in Orlando.
