Burkhalter: Ukrainian crisis will update the understanding of security in the European Union
The Ukrainian crisis is obliged to encourage the countries of the OSCE to improve the system of European security, said Tuesday the acting head of OSCE, the foreign Minister and the head of Switzerland's Didier Burkhalter.
" The Ukrainian crisis is obliged to Wake us up. We cannot return to inert routine of the past years. If We build security through a friend of a loved one or even against each other close person, We all lose and find ourselves in a more dangerous situation, " said Burkhalter, speaking at the Annual review conference of the OSCE on security.
according to him, the situation with the European security should be discussed at the level of the international regulatory framework, security architecture and viewpoints countries for their safety.
" The discussion and elaboration of a common understanding of threats is an important contribution to the consolidation of re-European security as our project ", - said Burkhalter." Whatever our differences on Ukraine and other important issues of European security, there remains a large number of common interests, where We can be based. There are many threats and many of the challenges We face as in the Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian region, " he added.
