Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel doesn`t consider Russia as friendly power. "Relationships between our countries can be defined as "strategic partnership" but certainly not as "friendship", - said Merkel.
"I don`t think Germany has much in common with Russia as for example with USA. But we are interested in development of Russia in proper direction", - said Chancellor.
In opinion of Angela Merkel Western community has plenty of grounds for concern. In particular, Chancellor is worried of Kremlin attempts to control non-governmental organizations, and also of strong dependence of Germany from Russian fuel supply.
As a reminder, Merkel criticized politics of Schroeder regarding relationships with Moscow before election.
Next week Merkel will go on official visit to USA, and afterwards she will arrive to Moscow for meeting with Vladimir Putin.
