New bill to equalize rights of religious and public institutes of higher education
Committee on issues of religious organizations under Russian government developed the bill about conferring of state status to religious institutes of higher education.
The bill "About introduction of amendments to laws "About education" and "About freedom of conscience and about religious associations" grant equal with public institutes rights to religious institutes of higher education. Such collages, established by religious organization of any confession, can educate students by state program, receive license and accreditation of Ministry of education and science and also diploma students.
Education by state standards in religious institutes has been already approved by minister of education and science Andrei Fursenko. Positive report on project was received from Ministry of Justice. Bill can be introduced to State Duma by Russian president after its consideration and approval on meeting of presidential Council on issues of religious organizations.
At present moment one can get professional religious education in 162 educational institutions, registered in Ministry of Justice. Among them there are 49 Orthodox, 75 Islam, 4 Catholic, 2 Buddhistic and 2 Judaic.
