10 day winter vocations moves away flu epidemic in Russia

Flu epidemic in Russia is delayed for undetermined time. At the moment seasonal rise of sickness rate is observed in no region of the country, reported the head of science organization department of Institute of flu Elena Doroshenko. According to her, New Year`s vocations and anomaly frost have delayed annual flu epidemic.

Children are "combustible material" for any epidemic. As soon as they return to school after vocations, epidemiologists note rise of flu and acute respiratory disease sickness rate in age groups from 7 to 17", says Elena Doroshenko.

This year children stay home because of frost, no virus circulation occurs, subsequently no sickness rate rise observed.

According to specialists, flu epidemic is expected to be of medium activity. It is expected to last from the mid of February to March. Today over 10 % Russians are vaccinated against flu, which is more than last year.
