Capital punishment in Russia must the abolished in the nearest future, believes Ella Pamfilova, the chairman of the Council on institutes of civil society development and human rights attached to Russian President.
"We are the only country in Council of Europe, which has not ratified yet the paragraph of capital punishment abolishing. I would like to hope, that we will do it in the nearest future", she said at the press-conference on Thursday.
The capital punishment moratorium is set in Russia, however, this measure of punishment has not been abolished completely yet.
Meanwhile, abolishing of capital punishment has been one of the obligations of Russia at entering Council of Europe.
