In infant cereal Heinz taking the lead
American manufacturer of food HJ Heinz Co. recalled several batches of baby products in China. Chinese regulators have found in the production of excessive levels of lead.

American food company Heinz recalled 4 lots of baby cereals in China in consequence of the increased lead content in this product. The manufacturer has brought its own apology and said that this issue did not affect the rest of baby food from Heinz.

Heinz - famous manufacturer of ketchup and canned vegetables, which last year bought Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Warren Buffett and company direct investment of 3G Capital. Though we are talking about is not a very large amount of withdrawn products, however the damage to the reputation of the company in the PRC can be significant, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The safety of baby food in China is considered to be the subject of special attention after the scandal in 2008, when the result of infection with melamine (a poisonous substance, which is used for plastic production) dairy mixtures of local production died 6 babies and about 300 thousand children are sick. With all of this, foreign brands of baby food use in China high fame: parents are willing to overpay hoping to receive quality guaranteed products. The capacity of the baby food market of the PRC (excluding milk) is about 8 billion yuan ($1.3 billion).

Earlier it was reported that McDonald's again starting to sell beef and chicken burgers in the number of Chinese settlements. Sales of beef, pork and chicken was postponed in consequence of the scandal by OSI Group LLC, which supplied meat to Shanghai network McDonald's and was recorded in the re-packing of expired meat under the guise of fresh.
