The European Commission has devised recommendations for actions, when Russia decides to stop gas supplies to Europe. We are talking not only about the supplies through Ukraine, but also on other routes, even the "Nord stream".
According to the head of the European Commission for energy, gц?nther Oettinger, it is a total rejection of Russian gas for up to 6 months. "The question is, can we go through the winter without difficulties?" - expressed Ettinger own doubts, presenting the project in case of extreme situation.
As informs "Interfax", the project launched by the European Commission consists of 3 items-recommendations to governments. First of all, States are encouraged to maximally remove all limitations on cross-border trade. This can be a method of limiting the increase of the capacity of the connecting pipelines. In addition, the magnitude of this paragraph, States are encouraged to lower their tariffs for companies performing the pumping of gas into underground storage facilities and increase the number of data terminals.
In 2, the Commission advises first to provide gas to the domestic economy, along the switching of the company on the alternative to Russian gas informants. We are talking about raising procurement of liquefied natural gas.
In the end, the 3rd set of measures focused on improving coordination within the EU on the issues of gas supply. We are talking about the development of regional cooperation, and more about building relationships with countries outside the EU, but is able to assist the European Union.
As they say in the EU, in the case of the implementation of all these measures will reduce the result from the possible failure of Russia to supply gas to Europe. The only buyers who then will be severely affected, will be Estonia and Finland, which will receive about 60% of the gas.
Note that American specialists with caution declare the recommendations, noticing that the candidacy of the Russian fuel in Europe anyway in short-term opportunities will not appear. "Natural gas from Russia will be highly competitive for decades. According to calculations, the size of imports of the energy States of the EU from Russia will decrease after 2030, but it will happen in the future growth of purchases of Russian liquefied natural gas", - is told in the report of the influential University in Brookings.
Moscow repeatedly talked about the willingness to meticulously comply with all existing obligations and to provide an uninterrupted supply of gas to Europe. At this point, the Ukrainian authorities in their turn, these guarantees do not wish to provide. "Ukraine declares that we - the government, which guarantees the uninterrupted transit of natural gas, but that this uninterrupted transit of natural gas to accurately promise to our European partners, we need to sign the agreement specifically with European companies", - quotes RIA Novosti Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
