The necessity of signing the agreement on cooperation and integration between Russia and South Ossetia due to the strengthening of relations of Georgia with NATO and to the unstable situation in the world, for example, in Ukraine, said the head of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov.
The presidents of Russia and South Ossetia Vladimir Putin and Leonid Tibilov on Wednesday signed an agreement on cooperation and integration. The draft Treaty provides for the formation of a common space of security and defence, the free crossing of the state border, the integration of the customs bodies, the expansion of cooperation of the bodies of internal Affairs, facilitating the procedure of acquiring Russian citizenship, increase of salaries and pensions, the provision of health insurance to the residents of South Ossetia.
"The idea of signing the contract, was born even earlier, when the world started seeing a complicated process, most recently, Ukraine, and that within Georgia began to appear proper organization, in terms of further expansion of military cooperation with NATO. Naturally, all this has pushed and South Ossetia, and the Russian Federation to prepare an agreement on the location of the existing Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between our countries, " - said Tibilov at a press conference.
He noticed that the Treaty has a strategic scale, and in South Ossetia, it is given great importance.
