The Ministers of 5 countries - Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Sweden signed an agreement on development of military cooperation. In the text of the agreement, having the form of the Declaration also tells about the interaction in the sphere of defense and the Baltic States.
A joint Declaration was signed by the defence Ministers of Finland and Sweden that are not in NATO, as well as the defence Ministers of Norway and Denmark, joined the head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Denmark because the country has no Ministry of defence. This agreement, as specialists, we are told, implies multilateral development cooperation in the military sphere between the countries of the region, even the total deterrence.
With all this, the specialists have reported that similar steps of Northern Europe can be regarded by the Russian Federation as hostile behavior. "You have to take into account that the Russian side will be negative reaction", - quotes the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten Dr. Janne Halland Matlary, which is considered a member of the expert group of the Norwegian Minister of defense.
Together with this, the Nordic Ministers stressed that their actions on the development of military capabilities caused by the defense activity in Russia. "The security situation in neighbouring the Nordic countries regions, the situation for the last year has significantly increased. We must be prepared to meet possible new crises and incidents", - is told in the statement of European civil servants. "Russia has enormous financial investment in the development of military power," said they.
The agreement provides for the General conduct of military manoeuvres in the region, the overall cooperation in the defence industry, as well as sharing of intelligence and joint processing of digital information. The text explains that similar measures powers intend to help peace and security in the region.
