Presse: the Austrian company wants to lead the "Turkish stream" in the European Union

Austrian oil and gas Concern OMV is developing a pipeline Project to supply gas from Russia to the European Union, bypassing Ukraine, informs referring to the sources familiar with the situation.

The project of the Nabucco gas pipeline was closed in 2013. In the European Union was obliged to supply gas from the Caspian sea via Turkey and the Balkans, bypassing Russia. Two years later it turned out that the Project was buried too early, according to the publication. In the first phase, according to expert analysis, the volume of gas supplies from Russia via a new route can reach about 30 billion cubic meters every year.

It may, however, upon reaching agreement on Iran's nuclear program, the EU will deliver on the new Nabucco Iranian gas. Tehran is ready to provide $10 billion for the construction of an export route.
