NATO command center was opened in Tallinn
The opening event of the command center of the North Atlantic Commonwealth took place in Tallinn, said the press service of the Ministry of defence of Estonia.
Defence Ministers of member countries of the North Atlantic Commonwealth in February adopted an opinion on the placement in the East of Europe of the six centres of Command and control (NFIU) in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania. These command centers will provide quick placement allied forces in the field, to support the planning of collective security and to participate in coordination exercises." Getting started staff element of NATO in Tallinn shows that the allies are serious about collective security. And at this same time, a major concern is the conflict in Ukraine. Nice to see that NATO is adapting to the new situation in the sphere of security and increase its presence in countries on the borders of the CIS ", - said the head of the Ministry of defence Sven Mixer at the opening ceremony of the center, reports RIA " Novosti ". The opening ceremony was also attended by the commander of the Estonian defense Forces, Lieutenant General Riho Terraces, Deputy commander of the NATO Command in Brunssum (JFCBS) Graham Stacey, employees of the foreign Ministry and the Soldiers. At full capacity the NATO centre will start functioning in June next year. Estonia provides resources, facilities and staff. In the work of the headquarters, which is located in Tallinn, together with Estonian soldiers will also participate allies of the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Poland, France, Germany, great Britain and Hungary. NATO allies amid dispute with Russia over Ukraine told about the number of measures to increase military activities in the European Union, including the strengthening of rapid response forces, the growth of U.S. troops on the continent, the dramatic expansion of the program of exercises and patrols, as well as the growth of military spending.
Russia said that the story is about the unprecedented expansion of the NATO at its borders. May 26, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured President Barack Obama that the Alliance conducted a large-scale strengthening of its defense capability. The story is about "the greatest strengthening of collective defence since the end of the cold war," Stoltenberg said. First of Stoltenberg said that in the near future the number of exercises and patrols on the Eastern borders of NATO will increase. Prior to that, Stoltenberg said that the increased NATO presence in Eastern Europe due to "Russian aggression" in Ukraine. While NATO Secretary General said that the Alliance supports punishment against capital of Russia, but remains open to the exchange of political opinions. In addition, Commonwealth Secretary-General said that NATO is in the process of the second day of the Ministerial meeting in Antalya will discuss its largest gain since the cold war " in the light of danger security for member countries of the bloc's Eastern and southern borders. While Stoltenberg believes that the Alliance as long as enough increased its presence in the Baltic States. At the same time Deputy Minister of defense of Russia Anatoly Antonov said that in connection with crisis in Ukraine all the positive in relations with the Alliance collapsed, NATO has taken the course of confrontation. In January, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the assurances of the North Atlantic Commonwealth about non-expansion to the East have remained empty words, and at the same time the infrastructure of NATO has moved closer to Russia's borders. The Minister also said that NATO's transition to confrontational rhetoric and increase of its military presence close to Russian borders demonstrate the inability of the Commonwealth to cross the stereotypes of the cold war.
