The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the conclusion of negotiations on Kazakhstan's accession to the world trade organization (WTO). Negotiations about the terms on which will be the entry that lasted more than 19 years. The Republic filed 29 January 1996.
What happened in Geneva was the final meeting of the Working group, which officially announced the conclusion of negotiations on Kazakhstan's accession to the world trade company. Republic became the 162nd member of the WTO.
The talks went on for 19 years. The complexity and uniqueness of the negotiations was the need to come to an agreement on tariffs, due to the Republic's membership in the Eurasian economic Union.
"Joining the WTO is a victory of Kazakhstan", - said President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The view was also expressed that the power shall not renounce the support of domestic firms after the accession to the WTO: "After joining the WTO, we will not refuse assistance to domestic companies. Now the support measures provided by the state, must comply with the international rules. Along with this Kazakh companies must learn to compete under the laws of the WTO."
"I always warned you, together with the advantages of membership in this organization is enhanced and competition. Manufacturers need to catch up to the world level", - noted the politician.
Earlier, the members of the working group argued that the negotiation process has been "one of the biggest challenges" for the 20-year history of the WTO. Then it was reported that the project of Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO on 22 June 2015 will be officially confirmed, and thereafter, is focused in the General Council for formal adoption by each of the 161-th member of the WTO. The CEO of the organization Roberto Azevedo announced that it looks forward to a Republic within the organization.
