The document granting loans to Kiev was signed on 1 April 2015 in Berlin. The parties were informed that these funds will be involved, for example, for investments in restoration and modernization of the infrastructure in the Eastern part of Ukraine in such areas as transport, energy, heating, energy efficiency, water and sanitation, social infrastructure, rehabilitation and construction of housing.

"The Federal government promised loan guarantees to Ukraine in the amount of five hundred million euros, 200 million of these funds will be provided in the form of short-term budget support. The remainder in the amount of 300 million euros should go mostly for projects to rebuild infrastructure in Ukraine. Real projects are to be approved by the German and Ukrainian governments, " said Commissioner of the German government.
