The state anti-corruption Commission of Thailand became the latest amendment to the act on the fight against corruption, according to which the country introduced the death penalty for a similar offence as the maximum penalty. Amendment N3 to the law of the Kingdom of Thailand, adopted in 1999 was promulgated and has entered into force.
Now according to the new law, civil servants of Thailand, foreign States or international organizations, demanded or accepted or agreed to accept cash or any other benefit for themselves or on behalf of other persons in exchange for action or inaction in the line of duty will be severely punished. Similar misconduct will be punished with imprisonment from 5 to 20 years and a fine from 100 thousand to 400 thousand Thai baht (about 13 thousand dollars), and in case of committing the same offenses in an especially large amount of the sanction will be much tougher, says the Bangkok Post.
