In Moscow on July 19 at his home on 68-m to year of life has died the former speaker of the state Duma and the incumbent Chairman of the Party of revival of Russia Gennady Seleznev. Earlier it became known that the politician was taken to the hospital due to complications from pneumonia.
"The last few months Gennady fought bravely with a serious illness. Healers have made every effort, but at the present time (July 19 - Approx. ed.) in the night of heart Gennady Nikolaevich stopped" - quoted by TASS son-in-law of a politician Andrey Andreev.
Own career Gennady Seleznev started with journalism - from 1980 to 1988 he served as the chief editor of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda", and in 1991 - 1993 he was appointed head of the newspaper "Pravda". In 1993 he became a state Duma Deputy, resigned from the lower house of Parliament in 2007.
Gennady Seleznev has come to the state Duma as a Deputy from the Communist party faction, since 2002, he ran as an independent MP. The position of Chairman of the lower house politician he held from 1996 to 2003. Besides all this, between 1999 and 2004 he was part of was part of the Russian Security Council, and in 2000 he founded and headed the all-Russian social company "Russia" on the basis of which in 2002 was created the party of Russia's Revival.
