Russia will respond to the West freezing of assets

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the development of the bill, suggesting the possibility of freezing of foreign assets in the country in response to similar actions abroad.

"The document is considered to be the result of many years of hard work of several departments, prepared to be implemented in domestic laws signed the Convention 2004 on jurisdictional immunities of States and their accessories. In the case of a law for the first time will define the limits of the immunity of foreign countries from participating in court proceedings, interim measures and enforcement of judicial acts, court decisions," RIA Novosti quoted Dmitry Medvedev.

The bill for the first time takes into account the possibility for a Russian court to limit the immunity of a foreign state based on the principle of reciprocity. "These actions of these countries, of course not dictated law and political judgments. Our government should have the right to impose retaliatory restrictions, including refusal to submit to such a state of immunity from our judicial decisions, even those decisions that relate to foreclosure on the property of such a state by a court in our country," he stressed.

In the state Duma the initiative of the Ministry of justice of Russia supported. "The measures proposed by the Ministry of justice, it is absolutely appropriate based on the belief wise approaches to legislation. Moreover, we believe that there should be measures, including strict coordination of the power structures, the Ministry of justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of economic development and the Parliament of the Russian Federation on the basis of beliefs timely blocking, freezing of assets abroad belonging not only to the state but to individuals, private firms. Creates risk for the business, at the moment they are high," stated the head of the Committee of the lower house of Parliament on property Sergey Gavrilov.

The Deputy added that, most likely, the initiative will receive the support of parliamentarians. Besides all this, said Gavrilov, you need to create measures to protect individuals from blocking foreign assets and enter them in the criminal code.
