The connection of gas transmission systems (GTS) of Europe and the Western part of the Ukrainian GTS will give an opportunity to implement the fix, storage and subsequent selection of Ukrainian underground storages (UGS) up to fifteen billion cubic meters of natural gas for its foreign owners, told the head of "Ukrtransgaz" Igor Prokopiv.
"The accession of GTS Central and Eastern Europe to the Western part of the Ukrainian gas transportation system to supply the injection, storage and withdrawal from Ukrainian underground storage of up to fifteen billion cubic meters of natural gas to foreign owners" - quoted Prokopov press service of the organization.
He said that the security of natural gas supply is ensured by a complex UGS, and Europe could work together to use the storage under the ground in Ukraine as a countervailing power during peak periods of consumption of gas.
in the words of the head of the organization, the complex UGS allows you to create reserves of gas purchased at wholesale prices, both for Ukraine and countries of Western and Central Europe for later consumption during peak periods.
Also, according to his statement, this will give the opportunity to optimize the operation of all adjacent operators of gas networks, to coordinate development of gas infrastructure in the area and make the location of underground storages powerful gas hub, which will solve the problem of balancing, storage, redistribution of income and gas supplies between Ukraine and EU countries.
"To realize such a project is impossible without operative system of informing our partners about the activities of the venture," added Prokopiv.
