The draft law on establishing the status of veterans of the great Patriotic war, residents of the besieged Sevastopol (from November 1941 to July 1942) submitted to the state Duma.

The amendment was prepared by the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol.

the bill proposed to establish the status of veterans of the great Patriotic war, persons living within the city of Sevastopol in the period from November 5, 1941 to 4 July 1942 ( "the people of the besieged Sevastopol" ).

"Citizens living in the city of Sevastopol from 30 October 1941 to 4 July 1942, Regardless of age, have experienced the horror of a bloody war, after going through a particularly cruel actions of the fascist aggressors. The share of citizens of the besieged Sevastopol endured severe hardship and verification. The authors explain that as long as the Crimea was part of Ukraine, residents of besieged Sevastopol was given the status of war veterans, as well as provided appropriate to the specified state benefits and guarantees.

"The implementation of the law will give the opportunity to give due respect to the residents of besieged Sevastopol, to provide them with social protection, as well as the rules for the activity of public organizations of veterans", said the MPs.
