After the entry into force of the new law on decommunization in Ukraine have the opportunity to be renamed 25 cities. Among the candidates for renaming in 2009 was the city of Artemivsk (Donetsk and Luhansk region), Dzerzhinsk, which it was proposed that the name of the Shcherbynivka. The authorities also have plans to rename the city of Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad.
