Now the electoral Commission is awaiting answers from the appropriate agencies about the possible presence of a candidate in the 2 senators of citizenship and criminal record," said Commission Chairman Inez Vinyarski.

According to her statement, the requested information is of fundamental importance. Only upon receipt of replies from the departments verification will be considered completed, and the status Yakunin as a candidate for Senator will be approved.

August 20, Yakunin was relieved from the post of managing Railways. He was replaced by former Deputy transport Minister Oleg Belozerov.
