The state Duma may oblige men to pay for abortions. Appropriate legislative initiative deputies will consider at the meeting on 1 December.
Member of state Duma Committee on family, ladies and children Alex Lysakov announced that deputies will discuss a draft law obliging men to pay for abortions, informs "Russian news service". According to the parliamentarian, the need to amend current legislation was formed in the spring of 2015, where they discussed the possibility of excluding abortion from the compulsory medical insurance system.
"This would lead to the fact that someone at the abortion in the end have to pay. And logically, it falls squarely on the shoulders of ladies. Not only that, she receives emotional and medical trauma, in addition to pay for it needs, and no one else, and the possibilities to Lodge complaints likely the father she has not," explained Lysakov.
The Deputy also reported that at the moment the discussion of the possible exclusion of abortion from the compulsory medical insurance system in the state Duma postponed. And yet, many influential people, such as Patriarch Kirill, for example, insist on this solution. Specifically as a consequence of the urgency of the question of the payment of such medical services is still relevant.
Lysakov among other things stressed that some members of the government reacted negatively to the bill, saying that the law is the concepts of "fetus" and "embryo". "I am of the opinion that this shall not preclude the adoption of this law because paternity can be set in the presence of a single cell, and there is no problem to test the stage of the fetus and embryo," he added.
Also, given the opinion of the author of the initiative, the bill would increase the liability of the guys who will be more likely to think about contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy. This document will be considered on first reading at the Duma meeting on 1 December 2015.
