In Krasnoyarsk region in the city of Norilsk is red river. It is more like a huge blood vessel than to the water. Shocked residents have shared photos on the Internet about the strange scene on the river Daldykan. Authorities are trying to determine why the river changed its color, and to assess possible environmental damages.
Water was able to redden due to "unidentified chemical substance" from the neighboring Nadezhda metallurgical plant. The Russian Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection said in a statement. If the pipeline is broken, contaminants could flow into the river, said the Ministry.
