The attack occurred during the open wedding celebrations in the conservative Kurdish area in the city of Gaziantep, near the Syrian border. Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Turkish President said that the terrorist group ISIS is the Prime suspect in the attack. On Sunday, at least 43 of the victims were buried, according to Islamic tradition. 69 people were injured in the blast, 17 of them are in critical condition, said the Agency Anadolu. The bride and groom was among the injured, though their condition is not critical, Anadolu reported, citing officials of the hospital. The white house and the state Department quickly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with Turkey. "The perpetrators of this barbaric act cynically and cowardly targeted the wedding, said Ned Price, a spokesman of the national security Council.
Officials found the pieces of the vest of a suicide at the scene, the Agency said. The explosion witnesses describe terrifying scene, they say body parts were scattered around the perimeter.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast in Gaziantep. But in a statement condemning the attack, Erdogan has identified ISIS as a likely culprit.
