The Observatory is located in mountains at an altitude of almost 2 thousand meters.
Just last year scientists found 40 previously unknown celestial bodies. the Experts working here in shifts all year round. Project Manager Vladimir Terguev has been working here for 50 years. He participated in the construction of the first facilities of the Observatory. Then, for the convenience of observation even had to move the state border of Russia and Mongolia. The telescope was installed decades ago, has passed through several stages of modernization, but still in the ranks.

Today it is the only country in the telescope to perform a review of observations. It was installed just over a year ago, it works still not at full strength. The project provides a powerful matrix of a sensor, which may allow scientists to study in more detail the space.
