In Tokyo, ended in a 2 round of Russian-Japanese talks
In Tokyo, ended in a 2 round of Russian-Japanese talks. The delegation from Moscow are the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Meeting in this format took place for the first time in the last few years.

The meeting of the foreign Ministers of Russia and Japan began in Tokyo to the accompaniment of noisy demonstrations by Japanese right-wing organizations. The nationalists intensified after Moscow and Tokyo agreed to discuss the issue of joint economic activities on Southern Kuriles. That started a conversation Japanese foreign Minister Fumio Kishida. In itself, the consent of Japan to talk about joint activities in the Islands, under Russian jurisdiction, a major breakthrough towards solving the longstanding problem of concluding a peace Treaty, signed between the two countries since the end of the war.

Among the Kurils is not limited. We are talking about restoring full-scale cooperation in economy, security and culture. Parallel to the negotiations of foreign Ministers in Tokyo hosted a meeting of Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with his Japanese counterpart Tomomi Indoi. Discussed issues of strengthening contacts between the military departments.

The second part of the negotiations in the format "2 2". Russia, for example, there are questions about U.S. plans to deploy in Japan a missile defense system, and Japan - about the prospects for the deployment of the Russian division of the Southern Kuril Islands. We are talking about issues of ensuring stability in the Asia-Pacific region: the launching of missiles by the DPRK which condemn both Russia and Japan, measures to counter piracy, drug trafficking, poaching and more. Ministers meet in 2 times since November 2013.

The resumption of the dialogue format is also part of agreements reached by leaders of the two countries to overcome the setback in relations. it happened 3 years ago, when Japan, under US pressure, joined the anti-Russian sanctions. After the change of US administration, SIZO Prime Minister Abe is trying to restore the contacts in accordance with Japanese interests. In April he is going with a return visit to Moscow.
