10 years have passed since the historic unification of the Russian Orthodox and the Russian Orthodox Church abroad. The "act on canonical communion" was signed in Moscow on may 17, 2007 Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus.
Under the bells of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in the day of the ascension of the Lord was made a true miracle. The chief priests and the bishops of the then still divided churches, believers from a dozen countries once again became one Church and one people, when under the arches of white and gold temple was announced the "Act of canonical unity" 2 and the high priest put their signatures to a historic document.
This epochal event 2 the Church was nearly 90 years old. Split revolution of 1917, and separated by a fratricidal civil war. The unification process took many years. One of his chief patrons was the President Putin. In September 2003, in new York, he met with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad, Metropolitan Laurus, and invited him to come to Moscow. After Laurel saw the changes in life of Russia and in respect to religion, he made the final decision to return to the vault of one of the one Russian Church.
The fullness of the Russian Church, restored in the day was not just an act of historical justice and the beginning of the fellowship. The event marked the end of political and spiritual division which passed through families and generations in Russia and the United States, Italy, France - everywhere where Orthodox parishes and believers lived in a situation of tragic separation. And now 10 years the Russian Church in the Fatherland and abroad are carrying the same Orthodox tradition that they are the world single.
