In St. Petersburg, the doctors restored the fingers to the girl with a genetic disorder
The complex operation was conducted jointly by Russian and Croatian doctors in St. Petersburg. They repaired fingers a girl with a severe genetic disease.

The patient 24 years, she has epidermolysis bullosa. This is a disease in which the skin is so weak that every scratch could be deadly. Because of the fragility of the tissues of such people called "butterflies". Persistent injuries have led to the fact that 10 years ago the girl has fused fingers. Before she could help only for the border. But now the patient went into surgery in his native St. Petersburg.

Russia's first operation to separate the fingers of an adult patient with the syndrome of the butterfly was assigned to the clinic of burns and plastic surgery Centre of emergency and radiation medicine of EMERCOM. 1.5 hours to anesthesia, 2,5 - operation. Together with the Russian doctors are specialists from Croatia. Dr. Klenak returned the mobility of the fingers 200 patients in Europe.

How many Russian people-butterflies require separation of the fingers is unknown. Epidermolysis bullosa - a rare genetic disorder and not included in any state health care program. The money for the surgery to girls was allocated by the sponsors. The next 10 days the patient will hold under medical supervision. Then the bandage should be changed. Only when the doctors are convinced that the fragile skin begins to heal, the girl will go home. Rehabilitation and restoration of function of the fingers may take six months.
