The 49-year-old actress learnt how to produce movies in 1992 when she starred in Orlando. She has been doing it ever since and says that collaborating with a director is what makes films exciting to her.
"The work that a producer does is work that I have done for most of my working life, with slight holiday breaks like working with Disney or George Clooney," she told Cover Media. "The whole thing of working in collaboration with filmmakers is the thing that I love the most and possibly I do the best.
"It`s my drug. I`m in it for the conversation. The conversation is the most important part of it."
Tilda admits she is not a typical actress. She hates showing up on set and collecting her pay cheque, preferring to be deeply involved in the films she stars in. Her latest project I Am Love took 11 years of her time, and she wouldn`t have had it any other way.
"It`s the way I like to work," she said. "It`s more exotic for me to be given a script that`s already written and given a pay cheque and asked to dress up and play and that`s all."
